hi. amateur
dude! i feel like am amateur on my freakin' computer lab dell! what's up!?!
everytime i am at the gym i think..dang...i keep forgetting to blog about "this" or i need to blog about "that." so now i am full-on remembering and blogging.
ok so, i'm at the gym i'm either getting undressed or dressed and avoiding all the other girls who are whipping each other with towels while in thier bras and panties (just kidding that doesn't really happen..shhyeah!). now, i work out at the koret center. 1) because i used to work at USF and got in for free and 2) because i am still technically a student (and get in for free) while i decide if i am moving to NYC or not (i know i just dropped that bomb on most). koret apparently has an amazing pool. i wouldn't know because i am not a recreational swimmer. i'm more of like, a "save yourself" kinda swimmer. incidentally, pool swimming is the sport of the elderly and there is this little tiny old lady standing there in her towel and she says to me in her east european accent, "how long it take for henna to wear off?" i'm like, "huh?" and she motions towards her own arms at where tattoos are on my body and she says, "henna. how long?" (i can just imagine her seeing me every day for like 4 months and thinking, when is that stuff gonna come off her arms?) and i was all, "yo gramma! this ain't no henna!" naw, i didn't say that. i politely said, "oh these aren't henna...they're real!" and then i snapped her with my towel.
so, since i am a major fatt-ass right now and being "retired" totally lends itself to laying on the couch whenever i want and watching moviesmoviesmovies...i've decided that i, in addition to going to the gym the 6 days a week, will try to ride my bike at least 30 minutes per day.
yesterday, i rode from my shack @ 22nd, down to 16th to 3rd, then past SBC pahhk, under the bay bridge and along the embarcadero to fishermans wharf, where i promptly got swallowed by A MILLION short-donning-freezing-their-asses-off tourists. i made a quick left (on some street) and rode parallel to the wharf and hopped back on the embarcadero to the ferry building where i stopped and got a coffee at pete's and read the examiner out by the water. can i just say? so awesome to not have to go to work and sit in an office. i took a bunch of pics, including one of these too-cute-for-words pigeons who shared my bench with me. alas, with no computer i'm just piling up the images on my card. you'll see the pics one day!
speaking of pigeons. i really like them! no, i am not on crack. pigeons have such a bad rap, man. i mean, they're just doing their thing! walking around. eating food. it just breaks my heart when i see one with a little mutilated foot. or something wrapped around its leg. actually, this is probably not a funny story, but the other morning i was driving up 21st to guerrero on my way to the gym. you know that road? its a hill between valencia and guerrero, so picture the viewing angle, and there was a dead pigeon laying in the middle of the street on its back with its tail facing me (or down) and its little pigeon feet were sticking straight up in the air like a dead, cartoon pigeon. i totally cracked up even tho it was sad, and if i wasn't whizzing up 21st i woulda pulled over to take a pic. if you know me, i'll take a pic of anything that's dead.
today, my friend ory was at the SF Concourse at an apparrel trade show. ory makes jewlery and is trying to get her stuff into a larger market. currently she is in about 12 stores in SF! that is so awesome! anyways, i rode my bike from my shack down to the concourse to keep her company for a bit. she bought me a turkey sandwich at trader joe's and we chatted for a while. apparently willo's bro, max, was there too with his stuff and i should have popped in to say hi but, believe it or not, i was too shy. he's just too cute for me to even look at let alone "pop in and say hi." groaaan.
today i eliptical trained for 50 minutes! holy crap! i usually go about 30 or so but today i programmed in 40 minutes and then when 40 rolled around i was like..uh..i'm not quite ready to go yet. so i added 10 more! i'm stoked about this because 1) i skipped friday and saturday last week 2) i'm a fatt-ass and 3) i'm usually talking myself out of finishing the meager 30 minutes! (and 4- i made cookies for my therapist and before i even cooked them i ate like half the dough. haha...why did i make cookies for my therapist you ask? because now that i don't have health insurance, he doesn't charge me! so i gotta slide him some baked goods now and again.) workout music of choice today was my awesome Circuit Party 7 CD. (please don't make fun!) kim english rocks! she is such a positive song writer. all she sings about is being thankful for being alive. i know it sounds gay, but its sooo good.
ok, i gotta try and read 4 chapters before class starts in, uh, 30 minutes.
