Sirius Satellite Radio
so i am siriusly (heh) deciding to get Sirius satellite radio. i admit that i am a Howarrd Stern fan and now that i am going to be commuting to work via my car and/or caltrain I want to be able to listen to the show (among other programming). I am interested in the S50 unit, which is sirus' portable unit, meaning it can go from car to home to person. I am aware of some of the drawbacks this unit has, primarly that when you are using it portably on your person that you are not able to receive a live satellite signal. However you are able to record programs and play them back, much like an iPod or podcasting.
from what i gather, i would have to record Sterns' show on Monday and then I would be able to listen to it on Tuesday and just be a day late with hearing it. however, if I have the unit with me on the train, I won't be able to record the show that is on while i have the unit away from the docking station. (assuming that Stern's show is running in the morning hours like it did on terrestrial radio).
does anyone have any insight? does anyone know anyone they can forward this question to?

hmm, i take it stern isn't publishing podcasts yet? :)
he does have some podcasts available but they seem to be more of a "best of" selection and not a daily show.
i'm considering sirius too!! just for Howard too!! And Robin of course. And the Crack Whore View. And Wendy. And K.C.
Bababooie.
i am actually considering subscribing to Howard On Demand on comcast. i just LOVE him!
this is gonna sound way gay, but i teared a bit while listening to his final broadcast this morning. i might have to commute with you just to listen to the new show.
i totally got teary eyed when they were playing the song they all made ot the tune of "what a wonderful world" except they would sing "waht a wonderful guy." hahaaha! i was sitting in my car in my new work parking lot getting all teary. then i ran inside hoping that live 105 was streaming and the stupid heads weren't! so i missed all the speaches. sadness.
Hey Hez... I don't know you, but I'm friend of Willo's and I read your blog form time to time, cause your funny. I hope you don't mind I'm leaving a comment.
Anyways I think I have a solution for ya. All you need is an ipod, timetrax software and a compatiable sirius radio. (models SIR-KEN1, SIR-JVC1, SIR-PNR1, and SIR-ALP1) The way it works is you connect it to your computer through USB and then you can set to record anything you want at set times. Then put the recording on your ipod. And leave it recording in the morning. Then you could do your listen one day behind idea... but with your ipod instead. The only catch is this is for PC only at the moment. Which sucks for me!!
But the mac idea would be to use the S50 and leave it connected to my computer through headphones port and use recording software that is set by time. And then transfer to ipod and leave it rec in the morn so you don't miss a show. You could do this idea with a pc too I'm just not sure what software to use.
One more note is that he has three channels and the show may very well play at ohter times during the day... Howard mentioned that might be a possiblity. Not sure though.
anyways I hope I helped... Oh here's the link to the software.
