Fourteen Years Ago

This picture brings back so many memories for me and I absolutely love the look on Misty's face. The man on the right and the man behind misty are none other Jeff and Steven McDonald of Redd Kross. That is me on the left and I would like to point out that Jeff is actually laughing at something funny I said. Misty is obviously in shock.

As the story goes, Redd Kross were Misty and my favorite band. I was shipping off to Germany that fall to be a nanny and during an impulsive moment, Misty crafted an invitation to Redd Kross to spend Thanksgiving dinner with us (due to their tour schedule they were going to be in Boston with a day off on the holiday). Surprisingly, they accepted and descended upon Misty's house with a couple of roadies and rock journalists from Kerrang! Misty and I had to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for 13 people, and I believe it was both of our first times doing this. Luckily my mom came early to help and Misty's downstairs neighbor let us use his oven.

The day went off without a hitch, even though Misty and I were drunk by 11am because we were so nervous. That day we were introduced to Heavy Metal Parking Lot for the first time, Redd Kross were friends with the filmmaker, we had a great meal and made great friends and we both ended up in Kerrang! It was a totally amazing day, considering we were so infatuated with the band that we used to watch their videos in slow-mo and all their movies over and over again and sit in the car mooning over the ballads before we went into the club to go dancing. We were twenty-three.
