It's occured to me...

(and I might get my ass kicked by everyone I know)

...that Indie Rock isn't really indie rock anymore. It's, like, mainstream rock now.

..ahhh! Don't hit me!

i think what you're referring to is the "mainstreaming" of a certain aesthetic and that's okay. it feels a lot like the late 80's to mid-90's, remember how popular nirvana was/is? or the whole manchester thing in the late 80's early 90's? or how bands like psychedelic furs and simple minds or even earlier spandau ballet were on all the teen flick soundtracks? anyhow, i think it's a good thing 'cause the alternative is linkin park and they're the other side of mainstream now.

Yup, just like "alternative" rock!

Fortunately, death metal is still death metal. Although it has gotten a little grindcorish of late.

A lot of indie rock sounds like "adult contemporary" from the '70s but without the chops or imagination.
