somethings i learned this weekend

chris cornell should never, ever rap

last night lyne, misty, negmeddin and i spent a gazillion dollars to see audioslave at the bill graham civic center. (you know, i think bill graham would probably roll over in his grave if he knew how horrible the sound is at BGCC). don't get me wrong. i LOVE chris cornell and think he is a walking god (even tho he is probably bi-polar and has hermit-like tendencies), but chris, man, stick to what you know you can do good. and that does not include trying to sing zach de la rocha style. it was really, really painful.

other than that, the meatheads at the show did not disappoint. i got to hear one of my favorite temple of the dog songs, All Night Thing. and one of my favorite rage against the machine songs, Killing In The Name. check out misty's blog because she took some great photos, including enough sequential photos to make a chris cornell flip book and the curious ritual of "manhugging."

when you get into a fight with someone and basically tell them you don't have time to deal with their uber-irritating-AA-recovery-psychobabble....don't expect them to say hi the next time you see them

some time ago at joe mud's awesome hat party, i got into a fight trying to protect a friend from a giant loser. i've seen him twice since then and everytime i'm like hey! it's...ohhh yeah. nevermind. well i saw this individual at jojo's awesome, extremly late 30's birthday party on saturday. i dragged lyne along and we chatted with the gay's, ate some hawaiin food, danced in the living room and ate cake. jojo was awesome and even humped my leg! love him. photos here.

always have a control freak in your group

at school i am doing this horrible group project that i find highly irritating. it's horrible because its silly. i won't bore you with the details. however, we have this awesome woman in our group who just decided to throw our presentating together because, by her own admission, she is a control freak. yay! less work for me.

Benjamin

ben is doing great! he finally stopped peeing on my floor (only twice) and understands that this is his house now and he waits for me on the front steps until i come home. this morning, while i was typing this, i heard this caterwaul, which is ben's normal meow and quite possibly used to say look at me! look at me! so i walked into the living room and this is what i saw.

benjamin

this is benny. he's my new temporary kitty.

i'm a little worried at how this will effect shai kitty. when i got him he lived with baby kitty and he personality was totally dwarfed by hers. then baby kitty died and shai was able to expand his own kitty personality to be a really lovey, goofy boy. i just don't want him to feel pushed out by ben. but i do want him to be able to play and cuddle like he used to with baby.

misty's b-day, lake sonoma and moving violations

last week i was missing in action because i now have a boyfriend and we actually go and do things. negmeddin had last week off so we did some day trips (healdsburg: home of the donut muffin) and hi. lake sonoma. and i had a JOB INTERVIEW-finally. oh yeah, and i got a moving violation! my first ever! ask me why i got it? and then ask me where i got it? oh apparently i didn't stop for a pedestrian in a cross walk...right in front of city hall. NICE. i aso got to have breakfast with the fabulous willo. we went to Just For You, which i had heard raves about. it was pretty good. oh! and i got a letter from the IRS. they think i owe them 3k...hahaha, right. guess who doesnt have a job?

i also volunteered at GLIDE on sunday. i served breakfast to over 500 people and got to wear a hairnet, rubber gloves and a plastic apron. (i know, it sounds like my typical saturday night.) after breakfast i helped make 635 sandwiches. it was a really rewarding experience and nice to help out.

i have no pictures of last week because i am lazy.

friday we all met misty and ted at the zeitgeist to celebrate misty's extremely mid 30's. we had a pretty fun night that included, but was not limited to, gorillas, dancing and uh, drinking. photos here.

i will have a new edition to my family starting tomorrow! this morning my awesome, ex-landlord, anita, called me and asked if i would temporarily (to perm) house her kitty, Ben. awww. Benny. he is a black kitty that has a little lovey personality. he likes this street and has been spending some time across the street at my neigbor ziggy's house but i guess his wifes' allergies really kicked in with a cat around full time. anita can't have ben in her house so she asked if i could help out. no problem! of course now that means i have THREE kitty's running around. shai, ed and now ben. at last i am surrounded by men.

hi. ipod help!

as of today, my almost new ipod photo has decided not to turn off! what the hell? i press the play/pause button and nothing happens. it either continues to play or pauses but never shuts off! i thought that maybe if i left it on pause, it would just shut itself off from no activity (like it has done in the past) but no. at the end of my 3 hour hair appointment it was still paused and on.

i find this incredibly annoying.

when i got home, i popped it into my bose docking station and was able to use the remote to shut it off.

has anyone experienced this? i googled and haven't really found anything similar. do you think dj ipod was revolting against my incessant playing of Dio?

did i party too much this weekend?

because now i am sick.

at first i thought it was alleriges as i cleaned my house on sunday and had a massive attack that felt kinda asthma-ish to me. after cleaning i got in my PJ's at TWO-THIRTY, got on my awesome couch and started watching movies. i watched Kinsey (just ok and oddly sexy), Marci X (just plain silly) and then i fell asleep. at 6pm. i slept until 11pm and woke up to this really great movie called Out of Order, which i guess was a TV mini-series but it starred eric stotlz (hot) and felicity huffman AND justine bateman. i guess justine bateman shoulda tipped me off about TV mini-series, however she was really hot! she totally filled out since Family Ties and was all voluptuous. hi hottie. so i guess getting on my couch in the afternoon and then falling asleep early for 5 hours shoulda been a tip off. my body was all, i don't feel good.

sunday i went down to my new friends' house in woodside. my friend sandi, in boston, e-introduced me to her friend jason and his wife laura who just moved out here. woodside is about 45 minutes or so from SF and very close to stanford, which is where laura is getting her PhD in linguistics. hi, smartie. i was a little nervous to hang out with people who i had never met before but they were both super nice and super awesome! and super drinkers. hellooo! i had like, 3 beers, a homemade dacqari and white and red wine. i felt like i kept it together pretty well. heh. they live on this awesome compound of 14 acres where they share a pool and a tricked out pool house with the other tenant. that so rocks. we swam, played some scrabble and then ate a yummy dinner. i headed home around 8-ish and then called up my cutey boy to come over and cuddle. awww yeah!

laura and jason

i love this picture of laura

then monday i woke up and felt like ass. i pretty much laid on my couch all day dying and being stuffy and fever-y and then i took a benadryl (which knocks me on my ass) and was out by 8pm. but not before i watched this interesting movie called We Don't Live Here Any More. sad.

today (at least right now) i feel A LOT better. but sometimes as the day goes on, when i am sick, i feel worse. so we'll see.

following your dreams

so i totally forgot, about 5 weeks ago, we had to partner up in class and i ended up with eric, who is probably in his late 50's or so, real nice guy. married, two kids. after we did our assignment we were talking about my unemployment and what i want to be doing. i told him that i was taking time to assess what i want to do and where i want to be and that it is really important to me to do what i really want to do to be happy. eric told me that he has been working at PG&E for 30 years! and that its not what he really wants to be doing! that he started working there very young and all of a sudden it was THIRTY years later. man. i don't want something like that to happen to me.

shai kitty has a dream and he's been following it for the last few days. everytime i open the back door he takes the opportunity to charge out of it. an open door is so enticing. especially when your friend (the not so) stray cat, eduardo, is out all the time! hey! eduardo gets to roll around in the dirt! hey! eduardo gets to poop outside! hey! eduardo gets to eat grass! ironically, as soon as the door gets opened and shai charges out, eduardo charges in. i suspect eduardo's internal monologue is hey! shai kitty gets to sleep on a bed! hey! shai kitty gets that yummy food *in a bowl*! hey! shai kitty gets to poop *in a box*!

shai kitty (bottom of the steps) sneaking out and eduardo telling on him.

here is me building trust with eduardo.

yesterday negmeddin and i went to lake sonoma. that's like my new favorite place. you know why? because it's hot there AND you can swim in the water. so we hopped in the car with food and drink and after our mandatory "taking road trip must stop at bakery" stop, we were on our way. it was a little trafficky on the way up, but we were there in no time, set up our stuff and got down to business. scrabble. negmeddin kicked my ass with a score of 375. jeesh. he even laid down HEMATITE. wtf? H.E.M.A.T.I.T.E. i was all, use it in a sentence! damn. we spent an amazing SEVEN hours on the beach. the weather was just so perfect. we just swam and ate and talked and surprisingly there were only like 15 other people there. it was practically perfect. except for when a man dressed in a giant beaver suit came around and distributed WHISTLES to all the kids. yeah. thanks guy! nice relaxing day on the beach. TOOT! TOOT!

the beach at lake sonoma.
